Our Story and Mission in Financial Education
From a single classroom to Manchester's trusted financial literacy centre
Why We Started
In 2018, our founders noticed a troubling pattern: families across Greater Manchester were struggling with financial decisions not because they lacked intelligence, but because no one had ever taught them the fundamentals. Schools covered algebra and history, yet practical money management remained an afterthought.
We opened our doors with a simple belief: financial literacy should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age or background. What began as weekend workshops in a rented community hall has grown into a comprehensive curriculum serving learners from age eight through retirement.
What Guides Our Teaching
Practical Application
Every concept we teach connects to real decisions our learners face. No abstract theory without immediate relevance to daily financial life.
Age-Appropriate Methods
A ten-year-old learns differently than a forty-year-old. Our materials and teaching approaches adapt to how each age group absorbs and retains information.
Judgement-Free Environment
Financial mistakes happen to everyone. Our classrooms are spaces where questions are welcomed and past decisions are learning opportunities, not sources of shame.
Evidence-Based Content
Our curriculum draws from established financial research and regulatory guidance. We teach proven strategies, not speculative trends.
Our Educators
Our teaching team combines academic credentials with real-world financial experience. Several of our instructors have backgrounds in banking, financial planning, and accounting, bringing practical insights that textbooks alone cannot provide.
Every educator completes ongoing professional development to stay current with changing regulations, new financial products, and evolving best practices in personal finance.
Our Approach to Learning
We structure our courses around active participation rather than passive listening. Learners work through realistic scenarios, use actual budgeting tools, and leave each session with actionable steps they can implement immediately.
For younger students, we incorporate games and interactive exercises that make abstract concepts tangible. Adults benefit from case studies drawn from common financial situations facing UK households, from navigating first mortgages to planning for retirement.
